This is a genuine Mercedes-Benz Battery Hold Down Strap (Left) for Mercedes R107 560SL vehicles. There are two of these parts on the vehicle, and it is only for later model vehicles that have the battery in the trunk. Located in the trunk behind the right side upholstery panel, you can find these parts holding down the battery.
Note that this is only the left strap. There is a second strap for the right side that this part latches onto.
